Position Type: Full Time


Salary Range: In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $142,000 - $183,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.


Location: Colorado Springs, Colorado. This is not a remote position.


Additional Compensation: This position is eligible for an end-of-year bonus.

Job Summary:

As a Systems Engineer, IT Systems Infrastructure, you will support the Space Warfighting and Analysis Center (SWAC) across multiple operating locations to include Colorado Springs, the National Capital Region, and other CONUS locations. The qualified applicant will directly interface with customers and team members to implement and "product-ize" prototype algorithms and code as well as design, implement, and maintain the information technology (IT) network systems for the SWAC wargaming team. The applicant will implement and maintain an advanced computing infrastructure to accomplish key tasks, establish networking rules for cybersecurity and troubleshoot network errors or other technical issues. The Systems Engineer, IT Systems Infrastructure Engineer is expected to review existing applications and requirements, react to changing priorities, and recommend enhancements and/or mitigate risks.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Integrate COTS & GOTS products to collect, display and remediate a variety of automated system security and system operations/performance functions and metrics
  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes
  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies
  • Assesses and mitigates system threats/risks throughout the program life cycle
  • Contributes to the planning, assessment, risk analysis, risk management, certification and awareness activities for system and networking operations
  • Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of information system security program policy; special emphasis placed upon integration of existing SAP network infrastructures

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years of Information Technology System Engineer experience
  • Advanced technical competency in one or more of the following supported platforms: Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, Hyper-V/VMWare/ESXi/Xen Hypervisors, Enterprise networking/firewalls/intrusion detection/prevention systems, Group Policy management and configuration, Scripting, BMC Footprints, SQL Server, IIS, Windows Server, Windows desktop OS, RHEL, Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent experience (4 years)
  • Meet certification requirements outlined in DoD Directive 8570.01-M for Information Assurance Technician Level III within 6 months of the date of hire
  • TS/SCI with eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information
  • Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph
  • Expert knowledge of DoD, National and applicable service and agency security policy, manuals and standards
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with good customer engagement skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Directly interface with government and contractor team members with nebulous requirements and
  • Demonstrated ability to assess unusually complex technical problems and provide highly innovative solutions
  • Able to contribute technical expertise throughout the system lifecycle including design, integration, test, and delivery to operations



DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Expertise in Python programming language and Python eco-system (e.g. Anaconda, pip/pyp)
  • Expertise in designing, implementing, and sustaining complex software applications including micro services and containerized pipelines
  • Proficiency with performing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) within a DevSecOps pipeline and familiarity with common tools (e.g. git)
  • Understanding of Docker containers and orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes)

Required Education: 10+ years of Information Technology Systems Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree OR Associate degree with 2 additional years of experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree OR a High School Diploma with 4 additional years of experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.


Clearance Requirement: This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. To be eligible for a clearance, US Citizenship is required, and an employee must agree to participate in a background screen and credit check.


Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
